Backstage at Monique Lhuillier- Nails Done Hair Done Everything Did

Odile Gilbert for Kerastase fashioned these fabulous chignons, Val Garland for MAC created these sultry smokey eyes and fierce eyebrows, and CND was in charge of those come hither nails.
 I was lucky enough to interview Odile, Val, and some of the fabulous people at CND and got all my fashion week beauty questions answered.

The first thing which I was always curious about is, what if a model is booked for two (or three or four) shows back-to-back.  They obviously don't have time to wash each model's hair between shows- what do you do?  The answer was simple.  They just brush all the products out, dry shampoo works well too.
Odile told me the secret to getting super shiny model hair - Kerastase's new Elixer Ultime.  I even tried it out, not only was my hair shinnier but it also felt much softer.

Val shared the secrets to the stunning eyes she sent down the runway; white eyeliner pencil on the inside to make your eyes look wide and a smokey mix of black and plum on top.  To get the full effect line the bottom middle of your eye with the black/plum combo but avoid both the outer and inner corners- in other words, leave two spaces.  Then pair it with a penciled in sharp brow and you'll be runway ready.

After explaing the looks, the inspiration behind them, and step-by-step how to create them the one thing I was really wondering was this.... how badly are these model's hair and nails ruined after constantly being done, over and over again hour after hour, day after day?  Odile told me with quality products (like Kerastase) your hair actually looks better, not worse.  As for nails, well I think they'll be skipping manicures for a while after fashion week ends.

Want to hear my interview with CND to get those amazing finger tips? Well you can, the video is uploaded on my blog in another post!

That's a whole lot of bobby pins!

Brittany Snow Backstage at Monique Lhuillier.

I was backstage at Monique Lhuillier  talking clothes, makeup, hair and nails, when Julia Stiles and Brittany Snow show up.  During all the chaos of  pre-show backstage, (the models weren’t even close to ready and show time was nearing) Stiles and Snow were happy to give interviews.  Both praised Monique (and rightfully so; her collection, as always, is fabulous.)

Brittany explains her wardrobe off set. “I like to wear my boy friends clothes…” she says before a short pause and a smile, “ when I had one.”

Not thinking of herself as much of a fashionista she exclaims, “I love playing a character who is so passionate about the art of clothes.  I’m learning to be more like her.”

While you won’t see her running errands in sky- high Manolos, you may spot her out with friends in some of her favorite items; skinny jeans, great black heels, and a good hat like a beanie (especially important for bad hair days).

“ I like beanies on boys, girls, everyone!”

Check out my interview backstage at Monique Lhuiller with Wanda Ruiz of CND.  Copy the look at home for runway ready nails.

Wanda also shared another tip with me to remove dark polishes;
apply Solar Oil around the nails.
