Runway Review: Kati Stern VENEXIANA

Audible gasps escaped the lips of editors, bloggers and guests alike as Kati Stern brought European decadence back to the runway.  With furs, wool coats, sexy sequin and leather dresses, and long ball gowns- something for everyone.

A lot of work goes into producing a fashion show.  Of course it’s important to have great designs, but it’s also important to work on the “run-of-show” or order that the garments are presented.  Generally the last item to walk the runway is the most spectacular.  Sometimes it’s a jewel encrusted suit or an over-the-top wedding dress, something to make everyone “ooh” and “ahh” over.  It’s the last look, the one the designer will be remembered by.

At Venexiana when this slinky metallic dress came down the runway as everyone watched in amazement I thought to myself this must be the final dress.

Then this beautiful emerald green one-shoulder gown came out.  Which was followed by this exquisite gunmetal sequined strapless gown.  The crowded was dazzled and I thought this must be the final dress.

Finally this gorgeous Swavorski crystal appliqué rose ivory Italian silk wedding gown complete with crystal headpiece sauntered down the runway and I realized how wrong I was before.  This was quite a way to end a show.



However, I was wrong again.  That glamorous gown wasn't the last look.  It was followed by the real pièce de résistance;  an ivory silk organza high neck petal wedding gown with Swarovski crystals.

Kati then walked the runway and received a standing ovation.   I’ve attended my fair share of fashion week shows over the years and this was the first time I’ve ever witnessed an entire audience on their feet.




Expect to see some of these gowns on the red carpet and hopefully one day, my closet!
